It was only a matter of time before I placed a Sephora order! initially I was lured onto Sephora for the final day of the double points offer on skincare – I wanted to get the Clinique Moisture surge face Spray.  But then a few other nagging bits from my Lemmings list urged me to get other things…

I just couldn’t wait until April for the VIB sale to get the Surratt appeal – I had every intent to wait, but my resolve has been weakened by Hauluary.

One thing I will say is, holy, there’s so much packaging with these items, this is what the above items look like removed from their cartons:

I’ve been hearing good things about this and one of my all time much-loved eyeliners is a limited edition formula from Lancôme called Khol in Love. I’m hoping this will be a suitable replacement – this is exclusive to Sephora.

Sephora Collection Oil Infusion color & care in 06 Bubbly Grenadine
I read that these are a good dupe for the YSL Volupté Tint-In-Oil so I had to give it a try. Lip oils were all the rage for 2015 and I missed the boat – it’s catch up time!

I can’t believe I paid this much for a bottle of nail polish but I’d seen the duo set on various blogs (namely, on StyledbyLauren) and I was genuinely curious about the polish quality.  The presentation of the polish is topnotch – even the bottle itself oozes sophistication. I hope the formula will generally apply itself.

I gotten this for my friend for her birthday.  She’d wanted it before but I wasn’t VIB Rouge yet – now I have access to it so I got it for her.  I guess it’s another perk of VIB Rouge?

And speaking of VIB Rouge… I got my welcome gift!  It is undoubtedly a Nars blush, in the shade Goulue.  Here’s the unveiling of the VIB Rouge welcome gift:

I would describe Goulue as a rosey plum with a warm sheen.  I haven’t worn it yet so that’s just my initial impression.  This shade isn’t new, it was part of the Guy Boudin One night Stand blush palette in 2013.

One thing to note, despite how tiny the VIB Rouge blush appears, there’s actually quite a bit of product in there: 4.0g for the “mini” versus 4.8g for the full-size!

I neglected to take a photo of the two pans opened or a swatch of Goulue and I’m wiped from taking pictures.  So, I’m just going to pledge that I’ll do a comparison and review of Goulue blush coming up, ok?

I received the Aloette Aloepure Restorative Enzyme Peel last  Christmas from the MIL.  And I just opened it a couple of weeks ago…

It’s the exact same idea as the Japanese cult product, remedy natural Aqua Peeling Gel.  I had utilized a peeling gel product before, called O’slee Rosehip Peeling Gel, which irritated my skin because of so much handbook scrubing of my skin. I was hesitant to use this enzyme peel however I checked out great evaluations online, so I figured I ought to just lastly give it a try.

Aloepure Restorative Enzyme peel is a bright eco-friendly gel:

Some people insurance claim that the bit peeling beads are dead skin being scrubed off, however I beg to differ – it’s just the product beading up on itself.  I did a test on the back of my hand – used the gel 3 times consecutively as well as each time the product beaded up.  If it was truly scrubing off my dead skin, why would there still be so much “dead skin” after the very first as well as second peels?

Overall it’s a good product however I looked up the item online (for research study purposes) as well as discovered out that the 65g jar costs $47! To me it’s not worth it, however it was a good gift to receive!  I’m not as well familiar with Aloette however it seems to be along similar veins as Mary Kay.

pleased Black Friday!  I may or may not be out trying to nab a deal on winter season boots. I haven’t chose if I’ll brave the crowds.  I might just purchase online.

Today I’m evaluating Tokyo Milk wisdom No 26 perfume.  I’ve heard a lot about Tokyo Milk fragrances – how niche and unique they are; the official name of the company is Tokyo Milk Parfumarie Curiosite, for heaven’s sake.  But, I feel like it’s a very thoroughly manufactured brand image, not as indie or novel as they’d like us to think.

I purchased the eau de parfum of wisdom No 26 purely by chance: last year at around this time in November I was killing time in a little gifty shop – you know the kind, lots of trinkets adorned with whatever is the most recent trend – be it owls, foxes, pandas; necklaces with lightning bolt / mushroom / wishbone pendants, and a section of cutely packaged hand creams and perfumes at greatly marked-up prices.  They were having a 50% off sale on select fragrances, and wisdom No 26 was among the offering.  I snagged this for only $13.50.  I initially purchased it as a back-up present – just in case someone gave me a Christmas present who I wasn’t expecting to receive a gift from, I’d have something to give them back (do you do this – keep spares?)  But in the end, it wasn’t needed and the perfume sat in my stash unopened.  So I chose to open it and keep it for myself!

The presentation of the perfume is exceptional – it’s housed in a glass test tube casing with a cork topper.  The tagline for the scent is: Wisdom: the course of time & observation lead way to its inky depths.

Fragrance Notes: Water Lily, woods + Moss, Walnut, winter season Musk
Fragrantica categorizes this as Floral Woody Musk – I typically steer clear of scents with strong musk so I was a bit wary about wearing this, but I do like lily scents.

Upon opening up the vial, I saw that the rollerball was stuck askew onto the cork base – it just looked so messy.  Then I discovered that the cap on the bottle is crooked!  The threads of the bottle are malformed so that the cap screws on an angle.  I would have been embarrassed if I had given this away as a gift!

But the rollerball works just fine.  I was quite underwhelmed by this fragrance. I smell mostly water lily but it’s very one dimensional, and the staying power was very poor.  Within two hours of applying this, I could no longer smell it on my skin even with my nose best up against my wrist.  Again, happy I didn’t give this away as a present.

Overall: meh.  Maybe a 5. I’ve been so snarky in this review, I ought to give it a 5 for effort.

Not sure if I would venture into other Tokyo Milk fragrances – any fans out there who can sway me into trying another?

Yay, it’s lastly a focus on the MAC eye shadow quad! I’m not expected to pick a preferred out of my job pan products (because the other products would get jealous) however I’m going to admit that I like these eye shadows just a teeny small more. Shhhh.

This is a MAC pro combination that I selected each colour myself, they are: All That Glitters, Patina, Satin Taupe, Romp:

Sadly, Romp is discontinued. however the other 3 are still easily available!

Here are the official MAC descriptions for every shade:
All That Glitters: beige w/gold pearl [Veluxe Pearl]
Patina: Taupe brown w/golden pearl [Frost]
Satin Taupe: Taupe with silver shimmer [Frost]
Romp: chocolate laced with gold [Frost]

I don’t believe the MAC descriptions are all that precise for All That Glitters as well as Patina.  All That Glitters is much more of a peachy pink shade, not beige. as well as Patina is much more of a sandy beige rather than a taupe.  Each of these 4 colours appear on my top 10 MAC eye shadow listing – to ensure that tells you exactly how much I like them!

It was appealing to do some comparison swatches (especially of Patina as well as Satin Taupe, because I likely own 3 dupes for them each) however I’ll save that for one more post.

In honour of today being St. Patrick’s Day, I thought I would showcase some green makeup items in my stash.  Let’s use the local dollar store as a gauge for what colour green we’re talking about:

Here’s a curated selection of some green eye shadows I own:

1) Shiseido eye shadow in “Menthe” from the limited edition Eye color Bar – a sheer minty green
2) make up store Eyedust in Victory – this looked a lot much more green in the container but once swatched, it leans quite teal
3 – 4) Coastal Scents hot Pots eye shadow sampler called “Lakeside Breeze” – I swatched the 2 best hand side shades “Celadon Green” (top) and “Balsam” (bottom)
5) Artdeco Khaki green 254 – I purchased this in Germany, it’s a very greyed sage green shade
6 – 7) Cargo Eye shadow Duo in Oregon – sage green and golden olive shades
8) The Body shop Eye Colour in 43 velvet green – a forest green
9) Sephora Jumbo liner 12HR wear Kaki 05 – this came in a set or else I probably wouldn’t have picked this shade up specifically but it’s a beautiful olive green

I swatched them in the same purchase as noted above
Most of my green eye shadows lean much more grey and brown, which makes them a lot much more wearable. I especially delight in using a deep sage colour to smoke out a nude eye look.

In contrast I own only a few green nail polishes:

There are so numerous things, OMG. By far the most challenging, though, is getting the lines to look even. My best eye is somewhat bigger as well as much more hooded than my left, so I have to change exactly how high up I take the liner as well as exactly how far out. If I don’t account for the difference, my eyes appear asymmetrical.

This month I seem to have finished up the core components of my face skincare products all at the same time – so odd how that happens.

The sense of accomplishment in finishing up products never gets old!

The Body Shop Vitamin E moisture Serum – $23 for 30ml (Body shop in store & online)
This lightweight serum includes glycerin, honey, and rice bran oil. I found it a bit watery and didn’t offer a long lasting hydration – my face felt less plump compared to other serums I’ve used. I reserved this for summer months during the day time due to this reason – this might be a good serum for oilier skin types. I do like that this package is in a vacuum pump but it’s visible through the bottle so you can see how much product is left.

Physician’s formula Anti Aging Laser Resurfacing Serum with 2.4 AHA – $21.95 for 30ml (drugstores & online)
This is a gentle chemical exfoliant that uses lactic acid, and can be used nightly under night cream.  I apply this lightweight gel lotion to cleansed face underneath my regular nighttime moisturizer – it makes my skin soft and glowy.  There’s also vitamin C and peptides in the concoction – it has quite a distinct fragrance but it isn’t offensive (I can’t place the smell but my first thought was Play-Doh).  I purchased this on clearance at 50% off – I don’t think this product is being discontinued but I think my local Rexall was just making space for other products.  So I grabbed 2.  I started this bottle in February and used it about 3 times a week.

Shiseido Ibuki Refining moisturizer – $52 for 75ml (department stores & online)
I discussed this item in my Shiseido skincare post and out of love / like / Loath categories, it was noted in “Like” – this is a terrific lightweight daytime moisturizer that I especially like for the summer months. The main issue I take with this is the fragrance – Shiseido really needs to dial that down on many of their products.  I noted on the bottle that I cracked this open in April so it lasted me a solid 6 months, not bad really when I calculate out a per month cost of $8.67. I spend much more on food on a daily basis!

Lise Watier HydraSmart Gel-Crème Hydration 3D – $18 for 30ml (Shoppers drug Mart & online)
Another tube bites the dust! I like this pill-y gel cream less and less as I struggled to use this 2nd tube up… but guess what? I discovered another unopened tube in my stash!  I promise someone is playing a cruel joke on me.
Stash worthiness: 6/10     Repurchase: No

Reversa Cleansing Micellar service – $23 for 300ml (drugstores & online)
I picked this up purely out of curiosity – it was on sale and a Canadian brand – and was so amazed with it! It’s bumped Bioderma off the 3rd spot for my preferred micellar waters (#1 Yves Rocher, #2 Claudalie, #3 Reversa). I use this after oil cleansing to remove all traces of makeup (especially from the neck and hairline area that might be much more challenging to rinse off), and it is effective yet gentle. It also leaves my skin SO soft. It includes lotus root water which is expected to be soothing.  I’ll be reusing this pump bottle for my other micellar waters.

Yves Rocher second Skin effect foundation in beige 200 – $25 for 30ml
This is an simple and easy lightweight foundation that blends perfectly onto my skin using just fingers. I love this foundation. and you know what that means, right? Yup, they discontinue it. Ugh. Last year I stocked up on a few backup bottles from the clearance table but only managed to snag one bottle in my appropriate shade – I got a couple in the next shade up for mixing. YR does have a new lightweight foundation to replace this – I have yet to try it (I received a sample) but the packaging is much bulkier (I love how compact and portable this bottle is!)… and I’m not so sure about that “luminous” business.

Neutrogena Ultra sheer dry Touch sunscreen SPF 110 – $16 for 88ml (drugstores & online)
This is a wonderful body sunscreen – I didn’t even know that they’re allowed to claim SPF that high! It applies nicely – not too greasy or too much of a white cast. This is strictly for body usage though, it’s much too heavy for the face. We took this on holiday with us (hence the battered looking bottle) and it worked amazingly during our hikes – no burns at all.

Shiseido sun protection Eye cream SPF 32 – $38 for 15ml (department stores & online)
I finally used up this tube – toward the end I cheated a little and applied this not only as an eye cream but all over my face. The 2nd tube shown isn’t empty but is being tossed away because it has expired because Oct 2014 so I don’t want to risk it. This is a good, non-greasy eye cream that contains SPF in the form of zinc oxide (9.3%)és oktinoxát (4,9%). Először is kihívást jelent az SPF-vel, és még sokkal nagyobb kihívást jelent, hogy megtalálja az ásványi fényvédőt (bár ez nem tiszta ásványi anyag, mint az oktinoxát kémiai fényvédő). Lise watier szempillaspirál wow – 24 $ (vásárlók drug Mart & Online)
Ezt a teljes méretű szempillaspirálot kaptam GWP-ként, így nem vagyok annyira bumming, hogy nem működött nekem. Gyönyörűen csak az emberre vonatkozik, annyira smudgy! Még egy szempillaspirál felső kabátot is felemeltem, és valahogy sikerül áttörni, és mosómedve szemét okoz. Továbbá a pálca annyira Bendy, hasonlóan a L’Oreal Miss Manga szempillaspirálhoz – túl floppy, hogy a szempillákra alkalmazzák a fedélzetemet.

Bath & Body Waikiki Beach Coconut tusfürdő – $ 12.50 295ml-re
Vettem ezt a $ 3 $ 15 értékesítés során. Nem tipikusan vásárolok zuhanyzót a BBW-tól, de nem tudtam ellenállni a nyár preferált illatának! When I use this in conjunction with the aloe gel lotion, then then layer on the body mist, the smell lasts so long – I love it!

Yves Rocher Tradition de Hammam keleti szappan argan és olívaolajjal (nem látható, mert mindannyian felhasználtak!) – 17 $ 5,3 oz. / 150 g bár (Yves Rocher Online & Online)
Megtekintettem erről. Bár ez egy fantasztikus hidratáló szappan volt, némi negatív volt: a bár mérete mamut volt – valóban kihívást jelentett a kezemben, hogy felálljon (nem tudom megmondani, hogy milyen sokszor dobtam ezt a zuhanyzóba! ) Also, the brown dye they put into this soap was so unnecessary – it left brown coloured soap scum on my shower curtain liner and shower tiles (I’m bumping my rating down from my original review for this reason). Én is csalódottam, hogy az illat nem volt ugyanaz, mint a megfelelő zuhanyolaj, ami az volt a fő oka annak, hogy megvásároltam ezt, hogy kezdje. Clarins Multi-Active night youth recovery Cream – $62 for 50ml (department stores & online) – I’ve been curious about this cream for ages and it was such a let-down! Ez a malom arc krém egy régi hölgy illatú – soha nem fizetnék teljes árat erre. Glad I got to try a sample first!

Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 balancing softener Enriched – $55 for 150ml (department stores & online) – this is the fanciest toner I’ve ever used. and this gwp is in a legit glass bottle! I wouldn’t ever purchase the full size of this – overpriced and too fragranced.

There was red wine and sushi, and a sweetheart in awe of how much makeup was present (not my boyfriend, he knows all too well).
